Quiet doubts. Private moments. These are no secrets from our Savior. He knows all that is within us, even the deepest thoughts and fears. He knows, and He still loves us.

These church leaders had secret doubts. Their inward thoughts were haunting them into disbelief. Yet Jesus not only knew their thoughts, He quietly addressed them! He did not openly rebuke, He brought the light in words that directly spoke to their doubts.

How? By following the Father! God Himself provided the means through the paralyzed man and the faith of his friends. Had they not dug through the roof, how would Jesus address the church leaders thoughts so directly? God provided the way, in the right moment.

God provides the light, the words, the opportunities to address our own hidden thoughts as well as those of others. He arranges things so that we can overcome doubts and fears if we only listen and obey. This story is a testament to God’s ability to touch our own hidden fears or doubts, as well as encouragement to bless other’s hidden thoughts.

We don’t need years of training, study, schooling, diplomas… No, we need Jesus. We need to spend so much time alone with the Father that we know His voice, His ways. We need humility and obedience.

Jesus knows us. Do we know Him?
